His career includes managing corporate communications and brand development for Pedabo Associates, alongside working with top media houses and publishers such as Litramed Publications, Peda Studios, NewDawn Creatives, Panoramic Entertainment (creators of the first historical comic book series), YouNeek Studios USA, and the renowned Dark Horse Comics.
Sunkanmi has been instrumental in the creation of several acclaimed graphic novels and comic series, including Iyanu coming to Cartoon Network in 2025, Whoopi Goldberg’s Change (published by Dark Horse Comics), Okiojo’s Chronicles, Drifters, and the award-winning Malika animated short film and graphic novel, where he served as lead artist. His contributions were pivotal to YouNeek Studios securing an unprecedented pioneer 10-book publishing deal with Dark Horse Comics.
In addition to his artistic talents, Sunkanmi is deeply rooted in the martial arts community. Holding a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Traditional ChungDoKwan and possessing a working knowledge of Japanese Jiu-jitsu, he brings over 20 years of experience as a martial artist and instructor.
